    Hi,

I was just at Amazon and found the Canon EOS M with the 22mm lens in stock for $299:

Amazon.com: Canon EOS M 18.0 MP Compact Systems Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-M 22mm STM Lens: CANON: Camera & Photo

UPDATE (7/13/13): The 22mm lens kit is listed today at $499, but the 18-55mm kit is still showing $349 when you click that option, with prime shipping available.

The 18-55mm kit is also available at $349. I don't know if there's much interest, but a number of people commented on an earlier listing of this kit.
I hope this helps some who were interested earlier but missed the chance at it.

    Bob

    Hi,
I am pleased to see all the interest in this thread and, since I've been enjoying the two kits I picked up, one for each lens and the adapter to add other Canon lenses, I wondered if others here were finding this system a good companion to the 4/3s gear we typically reach for. Just curious.

My 11-22mm just shipped this morning (from Japan)! We'll see what happens when (not if) they announce the new body. Canon launched the EOS M with limited options in the US. Originally only Black w/22mm as the sole release kit. The 18-55mm came later as a kit option.

Hope you can share some photos of that wide angle lens. :) I just got my EOS-M today it's not OMD fast but the image quality is outstanding SOOC.

I'm headed to Bogota on Tuesday, if i'm really lucky it will arrive in time and I'll have a fresh place to play with it (only my second time in the capitol).

What's interesting is that Canon came 'right out of the box' with that fast pancake prime. Something that Fuji, Nikon, Sony, & Olympus have yet to do!

The only folks with fast pancake primes are Panasonic, Canon, and Samsung

Fuji released the XP1 with the 35mm f1.4, along with the 18mm f2 (which is pretty much a pancake). They also have 35mm eq. covered with the X100 variants.

    IMHO,
That Fuji lens is more along the lines of the M. Zuiko 17mm ƒ1.8

I ordered it today from Amazon. and canceled the other order since the "in stock" date kept moving back. So you have made the world a better place.

Camera finally arrived after ordering it through B&H last week and I got to give Canon credit on the build quality even though it feels tiny it feels confident, touch screen feels very responsive just as good as the IPhone in my opinion. The autofocus is not OMD, RX100 fast but for my style of shooting it gets the job done.

Anyway here are the sample photos with the 22mm pancake

Yes .. I have still to collect mine as I was busy with the other thread  and didn't have time to go out :biggrin:. But I think Panasonic did offer 20 mm 1.7 as kit lens with GF1or GF2.
    Cheers

Nothing is certain, but there's a market here in the States for the EOS M. All Canon needs to recover are distribution and marketing costs as all engineering is baked in. I think they're simply prioritizing release of items based on demand--mirrorless cameras are more popular in other countries and Canon has excellent relations with retailers in the States already.

    Good morning,

I updated the listing today, 7/13/13, to report that the 22mm kit is now listed at $499 but the 18-55mm kit is still available for $349 with prime shipping.

I hope this helps some of you who were thinking about springing for the camera. Again, having picked up two of these, I am pleased with their performance so far. And it's a great package to walk around with.

It's still $299 from Amazon. You are looking at a 3rd party Amazon marketplace vendor. Look along the right side of the page for "More Buying Choices". Pick Amazon as your seller and the price is still $299.

Here's my "it's really $299 WTF is Canon thinking face". Taken @f2.8 w/ the offending lens.

That's pretty good. I saw this movie yesterday and it was very enjoyable, although I'm not quite sure why.
