Great shots - the 35mm f2 FD is also a great lens of M43

  4. Thanks, Bill. I've also got a 35mm f2 (bayonet mount, not the old concave lens) but just haven't used it much yet. I love the 'normal' perspective provided by the old 24 and 28mm lenses on m4/3 so my other FDs are still waiting their turn.

I still want one of those for my film work ;)

  8. The E-P1 is the only camera I've actually used the 24mm on. My Canon film SLRs are collectibles only. Even though it is "only" f2.8 you can consider it to be up to the same standard optically as the faster 28/2, 35/2, 50/1.4 nFD lenses.

I have a T90 that I use all my FD lenses on. I like the 28mm focal length over 24mm in general, but the 28 f/2.8 is "so-so". I've heard a lot of good things about the 24mm though.

  10. They're not particularly common but try to get hold of a nFD 28/2 if you like the 28mm focal length. You'll probably find them a little bit more expensive than a 24/2.8, but you never know when you'll come across one at a good price. Both are great lenses on a m4/3 camera, and I can't see why they wouldn't be just as as great on a Canon SLR (just wider!).

I never liked the Legacy Lenses on my M43 gear. On the Nex, it's a different story. The lenses come to life for me. It's just the ISO issue that plagues me but, it's worth the struggle.

  12. Nice shot, Don. What do you mean about the ISO issue? Is it a NEX specific thing?

    Nic,
There's a button on the lower rear under the control wheel. That button controls the ISO changing. If you set the camera to MF, then that button activates the MF. Now there is no way to change ISO unless you go into the menu. It's annoying and should be a very easy firmware fix but Sony hasn't done anything about it. It's the Nex's achilles heal for street shooters.

On MF... you just compose on the beautiful screen, hit the MF button to magnify focus, either 7 or 14x. Then hit the shutter and your back to the scene... very fast, easy and intuitive..... unless of course you need to change ISO...

  14. Haha, the E-P1 has exactly the same problem. I'm still hanging out for Canon to make me the perfect mirrorless camera. I might be waiting a while...

BTW, I love the nFD 24mm on the E-P1, but it must be real nice at ~36mm too.

Nic, Yeah...it's the FOV that I am most natural with. Who knew back in the day that I'd be using my Canon lenses again.... especially doing crop factors?
I don't mind the crop factor on my OM or Canon etc lenses but will not tolerate it on any Leica glass....

  16. Hmm, I think I'm somewhere between 32 and 56mm (equivalent). Can't make up my mind yet. The odd numbers come come from shooting 20mm lenses on Canon DSLRs (1.6x) and 28mm lenses on the E-P1 (2x).

    A couple more B-dubs from the nFD 24mm f2.8

  18. I gather from your post on another thread that yours is the breech-lock SSC version. How do you like it so far? Your copy seems to be nice and sharp based on these images.

Its really very good so far, only had it for a couple of days, really enjoying using it actually, its very similar to what I would have used on my old DSLR kit. Also first time using a tripod (which has sat in the house for over a year!) which I think has made a big difference to how I take shots, but yes very impressed with the sharpness of this one! Really enjoying using the Canon FD glass - just bought some film for the Canon A1 that I got with the 50mm I bought previously so looking forward to giving that a go too!

Greats shots and the color was awesome!! I want a 24mm for one of my film cameras, but all I can find is 28mm for a decent price.
