Showcase Canon 135mm EF f/2L USM lens

Here is an uncommon usage ... instead of a legacy lens, I used a modern lens. Can only use wide open by default, but that's the aperture I use this lens at 90% of the time. Anyway, only for Canon dslr users who also have m4/3.

All ISO 800, E-PL1 handles this ISO so well..

- I am considering Pentax 50-135 mm F2.8 or Sigma 50-150 mm F2.8 for comparable usage (but I prefer some zoom flexibilty for situation that I am limitted in my movement)

It's a big lens, but still considered light in the dslr world -> Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : EF 135mm f/2L USM.

It's one of Canon's best, but it is even slightly sharper on the E-PL1 than on a Canon 7D for example, due to the weaker AAF of the E-PL1. Just look at those eyelashes (and these are ISO 800)

Canon has the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM zoom, currently its most popular, but not to me, as it's double the weight, only f/2.8, and I am really used to primes for a long time.

I see some petite women using the 70-200 though, something must be wrong with me, I probably need to take up weightlifting

That Pentax 50-135 is very interesting, lightweight for a zoom dslr lens.

Speaking of weightlifting, these gals will have no problems carrying any camera ... all from the same lens, on E-PL1

You are getting me to think about getting a EF adapter for my epl-1. But the 135L is a great lens.

Your photos with this lens look really good. I've got the same lens but mine wasn't quite as sharp as yours wide open on my epl-1. I stopped it down to f2.8 (by changing the aperture while on my 7d and then taking the lens off the camera while holding down the DOF preview button) and my photos were better.

My copy of the 135L is pretty sharp wide open, I don't ever feel like I have to stop down with this lens to improve sharpness. It was the first copy I ever tried, but I bought it used about 6 months ago.

Mine too ... also sharper on my E-PL1 than on my Canon 7D, of course, due to the weaker AAF.

another 135 f2L user, on a G3

I have a great EOS system and I bought a G3 as an adjunct, for when circumstances dictate a smaller, lighter camera. Despite this reason for buying into the M 4/3 world, I am also excited about using my EF lenses and some legacy PK lenses.

I'm also excited about using older MF lenses on my EOS camera.

I have bought a few adapters and have quickly experimented a couple of evenings after work, really without the full knowledge of getting the manual focus spot on.

My EF 135mm f2 L lens is one of Canon's best. I tried it a couple of nights ago on the G3 and have been very pleased at the few test shots.

My only attempt at this combo so far was in the garden, so no people shots yet.

The images are jpegs created from RAW, but with no contrast / saturation enhancement.

I've been using adapted FD 135's for a while. Found a nice used EF 135 and picked it up. Happy I did.
