US members jealous about the UK/Ireland promo for a free Oly 45mm lens with E-M5 purchase may be interested in the Cameta Camera deals on refurbished E-M5 cameras for $850 and 45mm lenses for $315, both with free shipping. According to Cameta, the $850 price on the OM-D E-M5 is good for the next 4 days only (or while supplies last).

If you're looking for a bargain Micro 4/3 body, Cameta also has some great deals on factory refurbished camera bodies: Refurbished Cameras[img]http://www.tqlkg.com/image-6066856-11025758" width="1" height="1" border="0"/>

My experience purchasing Olympus factory refurbished gear from Cameta was that it was indistinguishable from new, and other members have reported the same.

Is the warranty through Olympus or Cameta? With all of the issues with the E-M5 that have been reported here and elsewhere, this is one camera I'd hesitate to buy refurbished unless it came with a full warranty from the manufacturer.

From what I gather, the factory demos come with a shorter manufacturer warranty and a 1 year Cameta warranty but that Cameta will send the item to Olympus (not a 3rd party) for repair if needed during that one year.

Cameta has been offering these type of factory refurbs(not only Olympus but also Nikon, etc) for many years (see this 2006 thread at Photo.net), and everything I've read about them (as pertains to refurbs) has been positive.

Regarding "all of the issues" with E-M5s, I think there are actually very few. The E-M5 is in a lot of hands, so we're bound to see the occasional issue pop up in the forums. The great majority of people are happy with their camera, offering no complaints.

1st 90 days of the warranty is an Olympus factory refurb, then it flips to Cameta for the rest of the year. No problems with cameta though, they've been great for all the stuff I've bought. Though if as Amin stated, there's probably no difference in result.

I love refurb deals. Just not this one so much. It places such a great burden on me.

Note to self: It's the lens, not the body. Lens, not body. Lens, not body.

It's the body if you like shooting MF lenses though: May the IBIS be with you. :p

Man, this deal makes me think I need a matching silver E-M5 and I am pretty sure my wife would tell me that I don't.

Very nice! Cameta's refurbished gear is generally as good as new, and 15% off list price for the E-M5 should make it even more attractive to a lot of folks.

They will add a three year international warranty which includes misuse (!) for $129, which still brings the total cost below the RRP, so it seems like a good deal. Also have a refurb 40-150 for $139 and a refurb EPM1 for $169 which seems like a steal for a spare body. Just a shame they don't do Panasonic prime lenses!

About 2 months ago I a picked up an epl1 and EPM and so far haven't had a problem. Both were shipped quickly.

Not such a deal, now that as of oct 15 you get a free 45 with purchase of a body. Save a hundred and lose $300. I'd rather buy new I think.

Thankfully (for GAS-afflicted people like me) this deal has mercifully ended.

Now, when's the next sale up??

just want to tell you guys they have it in stock now, but only 2 bodies left. They might be gone in any minutes. That's why they didn't update the "out of stock" status. Call them to order.

I wonder if Cameta is the go-to retailer for Olympus to sell demo/return stock? They seem to have the best deals on refurbs.

They seem to be the only retailer selling these refurbs
