Not sure if this has been posted here before. I found this independent camera remote app for my Windows 8.1 laptop. It will also work for Windows Phone. It's in the App Store for Windows. Right now, all it does is take the photo and display on your laptop or phone. You don't even get live view. However, I believe the author has done this a much for a proof of concept and is open to adding more of the features in the standard Olympus app.
I have nothing to do with this place, but I find it interesting. It would be a great alternative to tethering if he just added live view and basic camera controls (aperture, shutter speed, ISO).
