hi was using my epl5 and the whole shutter release button fell of is this something I can fix ?
Will it not snap back in?
Tried to push it back in but it won't hold itself in just falls back out
Might be more serious than it looks. Apparently Olympus replaces the whole top cap when this happens.
Thanks it's out of warranty bought it used but it's got a 2 year warranty with the shop I bought it from so will see what they say
Not really, no. Exactly the same thing happened to my E-PL5. Get an E-P5 like I did, they're not expensive and you'll be very happy like I was. This kind of breakage won't happen.
Would a Olympus OM-D E-M5 be a better upgrade to epl5 it would be a straight swap
Em5 is a great camera. I just switched to a gx7 from the em5. Although it's a lateral move, it feels like a big upgrade. Double the shutter speed, electronic shutter, wifi, better touch screen, works well with both brand of lenses. Only negatives are reduced battery life, and the viewfinder is not as good.
Thanks for the reply I the battery life would not be a issue as I only use the camera for holidays and family stuff seems like it would be a step up then
Is the em5 still a good camera even though it's a few years old
The em10 ii is another great option, but it's used value is still a little more than the gx7.
Used EP5 at B&H for $349:

Great camera. 5 axis IBIS and zero second anti-shock. The latter makes shutter shock a non-issue.
It's a great camera. Weather sealed, great viewfinder. It's biggest negatives are the 1/4000 max shutter and its not so impressive LCD screen, and no wifi (if that's important? ).
