I made a trip to the Basque country and Navarre last weekend and, of course, took many photos. Instead of posting a thread of the whole trip – which would be much too long – I’m going to post little ‘snapshots’ of what I consider the most interesting parts.
This is the bridge in Portugalete, near Bilbao. It's apparently the oldest transporter bridge in the world (started in 1890 and opened in 1893). Its cross bar was destroyed in the Civil War and was rebuilt in 1941 and the fifth and last gondola was added in 1998. We crossed over the river on it with our cars.
