Thanks RT. In film my favorite lens was the Nikkor 180mm 2.8. This little guy is in the ballpark (wish it was a 100mm). It is a very very nice lens.

Sheila E's dad. I see that he has not yet retired. Good to see him still performing.

Yep. This is a free event, with dancing next to the 4' high stage. I just wander through all the dancers.

Not the best illustration, but you can sorta see the dancers are actually butting up to the stage.

REALLY ... didn't know that. Saw Shelia at the Playboy Jazz Festival. She brought down everyone at the Bowl. Her two brothers were playing with Dad.

Dad's still moving, but he's slowing down.

Nice shots Gary and a lesson in how to crop tight. I always love looking at your images and learn a lot from them.

I absolutely love jazz, this must have been great. Nice set - I'm already pleased with my 100-300mm - I can see the 75 is going to be on my wish list.

Thanks NJH. I like tight - lol. Actually, I like how photography can be manipulated to alter our view of the world. Normally, I don't shoot with a 'normal' lens because a 'normal' lens delivers pretty much a similar perspective as our eyes ... so I prefer long or wide and tight because it's different than how we normally perceive the world. We are all learning on this forum.

If you love jazz then you should have been with me this weekend. I hit the Granddaddy of them all, the Monterey Jazz Festival.

The Brea Jazz Festival has great, Grammy award winning musicians and it's Free (and only a few miles from my house). The festival rocks on every weekend in September. If you like Latin Jazz, the final day this year is with Poncho Sanchez.

The 100-300 works well, but the 75mm is simply wonderful.
