Each year, the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre holds a mediaeval festival close to the anniversary of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bosworth_Field, the last significant engagement in the Wars of the Roses.

This years event was slightly marred by the heavy rains which had poured down on the Friday causing the field to be quite muddy underfoot (it also stopped several events such as the jousting and the re-enactment of the battle to be cancelled due to safety reasons).

However, the undoubted star of the show was the Jester:

He is one of only ten professional jesters in the UK and he was superb; later in the morning he also performed his escapology act which was a hoot:

His comment here was: "The joke's on you, I had beans for breakfast!"

And of course no mediaeval affair is complete without Blackadder buying an ice cream!

To finish off we walked through the Heritage Centre itself.

Great shots Martin, I've got to ask, the cannon firing shot, great timing on your part? or did the bang make you jump and press the shutter?🤪
Thanks, Stan, much appreciated.

Pure luck! However, with these old type of armaments, there is a slight delay between the fuse going down and the powder igniting (and it was raining, so the powder was a bit damp as well), so I just clicked away and got lucky!

Now that you mention it, I think we would all benefit if the legislative branches of governments maintained in-house jesters!
They do. They just don't admit it.
