I noticed in a thread recently, someone noted they intend to replace the skin on their upcoming E-M5. Which sounds like a wonderful option.

That said, does anyone know of a good place to get skins for the EM-5, or if nothing is available yet, at least a tried and true seller that may very well have some offerings soon?

Why should one do that? Why does this sound like a wonderful option?

A very reliable source for skins is Aki-Asahi Camera Coverings. They have already confirmed they will be offering skins for the E-M5. They have also cautioned (with the x100) that removing the existing skin may void the warranty.

Many here have used the skins for the E-Px series...

I don't even have the camera, but I would love a silver camera with a brown leather, too.....or croc skin.

I was going to say aki asahi. Personally I'm going to do this slowly since I want to be very sure that removing the skin is not going to interfere with the weather sealing.

I'd certainly wager that the skin is asthetic only. From the weather sealing schematic, it looks like its all tightened up by the implemeted gaskets.

if theres some kind of random hole under it, im sure aki would mention it on his site, and mebbe say "sorry not offering skin for em5 due to weathersealing issue possibility" or some such thing

Has anyone here actually done with with the E-M5 (or really any of the OM-Ds)? I can understand the reluctance when the camera was new, because according to the Aki-Asahi instructions installation requires some disassembly which could void the warranty. However, now that the camera is out of warranty anyway, I figure someone here might have taken the leap.

I'm particularly interested in two things:
    1) How difficult the process of removing the original skin and applying the new brass under-plates actually is (since Aki Asahi states that installation is "extremely difficult"), and
    2) What these might look like on a black E-M5, since all of the images on the Aki Asahi site feature the silver body, which IMHO isn't the best canvas for some of the options.

    Thanks in advance.
