Today Mirboo North (where I live) hosted the first Blessing of the Bike event ever held in Australia. The Blessing of the Bike is something that has been going on in Europe for some time and it heralds the start of the bike (motorbike) riding season. The instigator of the event was very concerned that it might only attract a hundred or so bikes, but we had well in excess of 500, perhaps around 1000 bikes on the day. It was a great event and the weather gods smiled upon us on the day (bloody bright conditions for photography). Here are some photos of the event (I was shooting for our local newspaper) and the full story is here: http://australianimage.com.au/wordpress/?p=2204.

Note the Canon shooter (two cameras etc) at the back. All he had to do was walk to the front of the crowd like I did, instead of doing the Hail Mary.
