Hey Team,

Since there was some interest, I'm going to start off the Bi-Weekly (semi-weekly?) ... TWO WEEK photography motivation booster challenge (the BWPMBC for short! :D) with a simple theme:

Lines and Curves.

The photo should focus on composition rather than subject and prominently feature lines and/or curves. These could be repeating lines. Crossing lines. Leading lines... You get the idea. Aim for pleasing patterns focus on composition over subject.

Rules/Recommendations:

1. One of the preconditions for these challenges was supposed to be that we don't have to go very far to take these photos. We should be able to find what we need around the house or nearby. If you can get out and shoot something outside, awesome. If not, look around at the mundane and ordinary for inspiration. Try seeing things you look at every day from a different perspective. Turn the world on its side.

2. Since the goal of this challenge is to get people shooting, please post new images only! You might have the perfect image in your back catalogue, but you should really try to post something taken during the challenge timeframe! (thanks @DeeJayK for reminding us!)

a) Catch-ups after the period has expired are perfectly acceptable. We're not monsters. (Thanks @Brownie!)

b) Feel free to post as many as you want, but try to pick the best of your bunch. Twenty takes on the same challenge might be a tad spammy. :)

In a couple of weeks (March 29th, I've put it in my calendar this time), I'll post another one of these here. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from the participants as they show up. All are welcome to take part, the more the merrier.

Good luck, have fun!

Bi-weekly is the correct term for something meant to cover two weeks or recur every two weeks. Semi-weekly would be twice per week.

Looking forward to getting out and participating.

By the way you might want to add in the "rules" that the intention is that entries would be images captured in the two week window. Since the idea (at least as I understand it) is to get folks motivated to go out and shoot, rather than just to scour their image catalog.

Agreed, with the exception that catch-ups are perfectly acceptable.

Yeah, I mean, this seems like pretty low stakes, so obviously no one's likely to be checking timestamps on EXIF data. I just think it makes sense to clarify that the intention is that they be "new" images captured, not back catalog.

Oke, without reading this topic, I would have passed this flat board without seeing anything interesting.

The motion blur is done on purpose and seems to enhance the intended effect of depth

This was the first thing I saw after leaving my house camera in hand to look for a subject for this challenge.

P. S. I'm not sure if the intention here is that one should submit a single "entry" during the two-week period, or if multiple submissions are allowed/ encouraged.

beautiful shot! (I love yours too, @Hoffelijk!)

I say post them if you've got 'em. It's the first one and we can add a rule later if people find it gets too spammy.

edit: added suggestion 2.b).

Unless you're worried about using up bandwidth, who cares how many shots you post?

This is a new challenge, and it's not my baby. I just wanted to understand what the OP had in mind.

it's our baby. people are free to make this what they want. :)

Here's one I grabbed while at the barbecue on Wednesday. I wasn't going to post any to this challenge, but what the hell? (Voigtlander 17.5mm @ f4, hand held).

Cool thread. My favorite subjects are basically composed of lines & curves. Arranged in such a manner as to convey speed, sleekness, beauty, or just great power. I do my best to try and capture those elements in my shots, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't :)
