A gorgeous B17G that is one of 3 in the world in this condition. The only thing missing is the firing pins for the 50's. I hope you enjoy these.

    Cheers

I totally thought this was a much different thread based on title. Beautiful nonetheless.

If the .50 firing pins aren't aboard, why are there some hearing protection headphones over one's barrel ?

They do live fire exercises in concert with the army on occasion to make sure it's fully fuctional. Also you can't fly a fully armed civilian aircraft over US skies.

There are 12 in this condition and only 3 left flying. After this summer there will only be 2 and then none. They are way to valuable to risk losing. They just lost one a month ago from the confederate airforce in a cornfield in Illinois south of Chicago.

Although large for their time, it always strikes me how small and cramped WW2 aircraft appear. Incredible courage to take these things up day after day.

I had the chance to see a B29 flying over Duxford in the late 80s. Wonderful sight, incredibly noisy.

Those are lovely shots! I especially liked the tail gunner's view... I was filled with dread and the noise of chattering guns as I looked at the image.

We had two of them, including this one, up in Ontario a few weekends ago, Father's Day to be exact.

I shot movies of them taking off, flying by and landing using a GH2 with a 2X converted Oly 150mm/2.0 Top-Pro lens, which gave me 600mm FL.

Here's a still... I have lots of work to do handling this long setup to gain adequate control over focus and still allow for motion sense.... I don't have an 83mm NDA or CP filter!
