Got a chance to attend the 197th Anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans at the Chalmette National Park outside of New Orleans. the weather was just like the week of the battle, totally fogged in and rain soaked! was trying to decide which to take when the rain had stopped so I opted for the 12, 25, 45 and 45-200. one had to park and ride to the park. when you got off the bus you 1st encountered the American camp composed of the New Orleans militia, Lafitte pirates, Choctaw, Tennessee volunteers and US regular (Army and Navy). the Americans were 1st up for a musket fire demo. ready: aim fire: then back to camp then off to the British Camp at the plantation house. which was fogged in as you go closer to the river. the British muster for fire demo. ready: fire moved to get a better picture for the next demo because the smoke blew all my way. ready: fire: for the 1st canon fire demo, the fog was thick and could not get a focus lock with the 45-200. for the 2nd demo the fog started to burn off and the sun came out. the ladies were fixing lunch and mending and some enjoyed a smoke and talk it was a good day for picture taking i have 400 more pictures to go with these.
