so i've finally managed to edit and upload everything from our trip to Barbados. here are a few; the rest are located at http://photos.nursenicole.net/Travel. i've uploaded them to Flickr too, but somehow they got all out of order and some are even duplicated - not sure what happened but it's a mess. so if you are interested in the full set, please check them out on smugmug

i am open to both positive and ...er... "constructive" feedback! this is my first adventure shooting fully manual, and i've only had the E-PL1 since February, so i know i've got a long way to go and lots to learn - definitely open to your suggestions/advice/whatever!

I also wanted to mention that the Bryan Peterson book "Understanding Exposure" has been such a huge help to me - and I only heard of it through this forum - thank you!

ok, just a very few of 200+ photos:

No we didn't, we rented a car and did our own island touring. The monkeys pictured here are from the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, but we also saw some at Welchman Hall Gully.

Hello Nicole
I have viewed your images of Barbados and they are just gorgeous..you mention at the beginning of your posting "manual" and so I take it from that tht you were in control of your settings...may I ask what lens (es) you used just to get an idea from your images what was used. :2thumbs:

thank you so much for the positive feedback!

i have both the 14-42mm kit lens, and the 40-150 telephoto lens. i mostly used the kit lens, but there are a few photos shot with the bigger one. i found myself wishing i had that 20mm 1.7 lens a few times!

i also found that Bajans are not fond of having their picture taken, the few folks i asked all quickly gave a "no" response. better luck next time, i guess! i am sad that i didn't take any photos of their colorful homes and their old churches - since we were on a less-densely-populated side of the island it just didn't occur to me until we got back to the states.
