We've had a few threads as of recent in the forum about what camera is better, what sensor is better, what system is appropriate for "pro" work, and what is not appropriate, etc, etc, etc.

A lot of us have watched those quirky, over the top, but always entertaining (and sometimes informative) gear reviews at DigitalRev. But I finally watched some of the videos for the "Pro-Photographer Cheap Camera" challenges. In these challenges, Kai invites a "pro" photographer to use a randomly chosen cheapo camera in a professional application. The videos were entertaining and informative. And it does give me pause about my gear addiction.

But just for a second!!! Haha.

If your livelihood relies on a pro-caliber body, then I think it's justified. If people are making a living off micro four-thirds, I don't see why having a pro-body would hurt? A pro body helps to guarantee the right photo.

That first one was trouble from the get-go. Fully outfitted DSLR while riding a mountainbike....over a jump?

Watching that girl on the last vid carry the full-frame Nikon around makes me appreciate our little cameras.

That last one where she says "It's so heavy.....it's just plastic" was epic.

I was laughing so hard when the pro photographer wiped out off the mountain bike!!!

Yeah, I know. I'm being insensitive. Those over the handle bar flips can be dangerous!

You do not hire a professional primarily for the stuff they own. You hire them for their skill.

That is really inspiring. I am not going to upgrade to the cheapest second hand Digital camera I can find. Only stipulation is that it works long enough for me to do a shoot with it. I think I have a low level GAS infection.
