I'm going to try to set up & learn back button focusing on my E-M1. But I have a question - if I'm on a tripod, and want to use my cable release (or the 2 or 12 second self timer), how will the auto-focus work, since I won't be pressing the AFL/AEL lock?

    Thanks.

For a moving subject, leave AF on, and it will focus when you fire the shutter.

For a static subject, put it in MF mode, press the back-button focus once, and fire at will with the cable release.
