I would love a FF mirrorless but am unsure of how the A7 performs compared to my E-P5. :/

Wow. Awesome prices! To bad there are so few lenses. As exciting as their cameras are, I don't think I would buy an ILC camera from Sony right now. They have a long history of abandoning technology, and are currently supporting 3 different lens mounts. They seem spread way too thin. My guess is the Nex (or whatever they call them now) guys are going to be left in the cold.

A7 has pdaf like EM1, but contrast af is slower then m43, again better then previous nex cameras, eg fast enough to catch a bif (seagull). Yes, Sony is pushing FF mirrorless now and the lens schedule is for FE A7(R) lenses:

Next lens is 70-200 which is released in 2 days in Japan. It will take a while to cover the range and the lenses are not cheap... However you can use legacy glass too, evf is similar to e-m1...

Another thing is. How big will the fast lenses be? Waiting to see, by that time a new Alpha camera will be out.

Even including the to be released lenses the system is just far behind. Plus the clunky operation of the A7 compared to GH3, GX7, EM1, EM5, EP5, etc, etc and its a no go for now. Maybe 3-4 years in the future with improved bodies and better lens lineup, maybe even then. Have to face the fact that huge sized glass will accompany the small bodies due to sensor size if you wanted fast glass similar to a Oly 75 1.8 or what have you (like f2.8 constant zooms).

Would rather just get a Fuji if I wanted a secondary or complimentary system to my M43 setup at this point in time.

I played my friend's A7R for a while, the focus is ok in good light, but it did much slower in low light than M43.

Great price... I would be all over it if I were not still on the fence about its practical use with adapted lenses. For now, I will keep on saving.

I hear the next FF Sony camera will be announced within a few months, so I would wait to see what they have to offer!

Sony is blowing out a ton of stuff. I was tempted with the A7 but ended up with a Nex6 w/16-50 for an effective price of $360.

Wow, good deal for someone (I don't need it). Follow the latest link in the Fred Miranda thread. Seems to still work. The web site says the code has already been used by someone else, but then applies the discount anyway.

The rumor is for a new alpha DSLR, last I checked.

The A7r is a great camera, but quirky. The E-M1 is the more capable all rounder by a fairly large margin, but I really love the A7R for what it is and the FF look I have back again. And the 55/1.8 is really fantastic. I have limited interest in anything longer, though a Zeiss 135 could tempt me.

If you shoot landscape, people (non action) and non-rangefinder adapted lenses, it's a really great camera. Just very much a first gen product. I don't regret buying it, but it is definitely not for everyone. It slows me down and requires excellent technique for optimal results, which is fun, but not always feasible.

My buddy got a similar deal when Best Buy was clearing out their stock, except he got his--with lens-- for $120.

Pretty sure they said a new FE camera would be announced in a few months, as in the A9?

The package was/is $699 for the nex6 plus a 20mm 2.8. 6% off for using google wallet. I'm going to toss the 20mm on amazon or EBay and expect to net around $300.
