Inspired by a post by AlexH in the Autumn 2012 thread, I've been messing around with some conversions of images I would've typically thought "color only".

Still a work in progress, but I'm happy enough with these thus far.

I really like the second image, but the others just don't work for me in B&W. It's personal preference, I just like the colors of Fall. I had much the same reaction to B&W images of flowers - I know there should be color and have a hard time when it's not there.

Thanks for taking the time to comment - really appreciate it

And I know exactly what you mean, RevBob. It's rare when I like a b&w flower shot, or anything else where typically I'd probably get more enjoyment from a color version. In this case, the leaf shot (my favorite here as well btw) I only did the b&w version. In color it's rather drab. Now the other 2 ... well, I certainly don't mind showing them in color

I spent a week on the Isle of Skye in September and had the good fortune be given dramatic weather. And that's great for black & white seascapes and landscapes

    Holga shots lack of contrast.

I'm somewhat concerned to see a lack of contrast with many of the B+W shots on this forum and with modern mono shots in general. In film days the prints would show great contrast, yet here we are with the ablility of great Zonal Range and the images often seem so flat, is this modern style?

    Here's a few shots done with a G3 and Holga 25mm f8.

I see no reason to be concerned, the thing about photography is people have opinions, what to you is "flat" to another person might be gorgeous and filled with vast tonality, it's completely subjective bases upon the viewer, the time of day, hell for all I know we might be influenced by the Mayan calendar.:).
