Can anyone tell me how fast the 17mm f1.8 focuses on the e-p1? I am debating between the e-p3 with the 17mm 2.8 or keeping my e-p1 and picking up the 17mm f1.8.

Has no one tried the 17mm f1.8 on an e-p1? I can't find anything when I do a search, so you guys are my only hope! If anyone can test the af speed, I would really appreciate it. I'm considering selling my e-p3 with the 17mm 2.8 in order to fund the purchase of the faster 17mm prime. Thanks!

OOOPS! I thought you had written E-PL1 - not EP1. Sorry.

I found my 45mm f1.8 and 14-42mkII both focussed faster on my E-P1 than my original kit lens or the 17mm f2.8 or 20mm f1.7 (not that either of these two is a speedster).

Having said that, a newer generation camera will be markedly faster still.

I went from a E-P1 and added an E-PM1 and G3 - the newer two feel so much faster.

I still shoot adapted lenses on the E-P1 though. Its a design classic and its resale value is negligible, so its a keeper.

I believe the e-pl1 focused at about the same speed... Have you tried it with the 17/1.8?
