I am looking for feedback about the built-inl mic on the GX7. I am interested in how it records in a video interview situation 6 - 12 feet away from the subject, both indoors and outdoors (where there can be wind). This camera would be in addition to a fully rigged GH3 (and GH4). I am looking for a camera that I can carry easily and use with the O17 or P12-35. I am concerned, however, about the lack of a mic input.

Edit: yes I know the G6 has the option of an external mic.

I filmed a best man's speech (indoors) from about 6 feet away at the weekend, and it sounded fine played back on a big TV.

There seem to be more wind cut options in the menu than on the GF3!

Thanks, that is good to know. Obviously, I am looking for a compact video option.

It's reasonably compact (fits in my suit trouser pocket w smaller lenses), though the eyecup protrudes a tad. Plus a newer sensor than the G6 with nice colour and inoffensive high iso noise.

The first GX7 review in the forum review section pretty much sums it up.

use a small external recorder either just out of frame or with a lapel mic. sync the audio later in software. a Zoom H1 would be good: http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h1
