I didn't see a generic zoo thread, a place to post pictures from any zoo taken with any appropriate camera and/or lens. So here's one: Please feel free to add your pictures.

I went to the Albuquerque Zoo this afternoon. It's a pretty nice zoo, part of a larger bio-park that includes a botanical garden and an aquarium. Here are a bunch of shots that I thought came out reasonable well. I avoided shooting through wire at those animals so confined because 1.) those enclosures depress me and 2.) the OOF chain link in the foreground is distracting. The snake shot thank God was taken through two layers of plexiglass, and most of the others were enclosures with short barriers or sunken, pit-like habitats that one can shoot down into. The yawning ostrich made me laugh out loud at the zoo, and again when I brought it up on the computer. A technically challenged shot of a very goofy looking beast.

Oh, but the way, these were all shot with the E-M5. Those without lens information when you right click on them were taken with the old 300mm f4.5 Zuiko. I also had the 40-150 M. Zuiko, and the 12-50mm. The last lens gets a bum rap, but I shot the snakes, through glass, at 3200 asa, and it looks pretty good to me.

This is one of my favorite shots, not my usual style, but the look in this guy's eyes is too human to ignore. When he saw my camera(d300, 70-300 ed), he started striking poses:)

Impressive cats, but what have you done to that poor lion? Seems you have been somewhat overzealous with those adjustment sliders...

Blue Crane. I couldn't help thinking of depictions of Roswell aliens when I saw its bulbous head.

Well, he probably wasn't really yawning, but that's what it looked like to me, and since he was plopped down under a tree on a hot, humid (for the desert) afternoon, it just seemed perfect. By the time I got to him I was hot, tired, wanted an iced tea, and was probably projecting my incipient yawn onto him. But he did give me a laugh.

I would suggest that either the second I way over processed or you used an very aggressive in camera filer. Whatever it was it is too much. If you can revert to the original try this one again. It could be very nice with the right processing.
