Has anyone had any experience pairing a mu 4/3 camera with a telescope? I am wondering if heat would be an issue in really long exposures?

Not yet, but how long are you planning? The bulb mode on most Panasonic m43 cameras is limited to only 2-4 minutes.

:edit: looks like the Oly's will do 30mins in bulb.

Orion Telescopes has an adapter. telescope.com There is even a sample image in the video ( i forget which one ) using an EPL-1
You'll still have to jury rig some sort of frame to press & hold the shutter button.

Can't you just use a remote shutter release?

The e-pl1 is the only PEN that does not have remote release capability.
