I think it's wonderful how nature can transform a mundane item into almost to a thing of beauty with just a coating of frost. What do you think?

I wouldn't say its art but it is interesting.

You know as a photographer, we see what other people just pass by. Today it is the fact that because we all have these small cameras, we more often have one with us. You did, and I like what you saw.

It is interesting which makes you look at it. I'd say worth the effort.

Art is art.... all the eye of the beholder. I'm no art aficionado. What I can say is what comes to mind:

    * I think there is potential but I'm not sure about the post processing.
    * Not too much tonality. There is a lot of clipping on both sides of the histogram.
    * A little too much in the sharpening maybe?

At least for me... the end result is that its a bit too hard on the eyes.

I am by no means an expert photographer, so don't take my opinion to mean much, but I felt that image was overall very appealing, albeit a tiny bit hard on the eyes (the contrasting black v. white seemed to strain my eyes a bit)

Hehe, it was my bag of rubbish left out for collection and I just snapped it as I waited for the car to defrost.

Some people don't know anything about art, but know what they like.

Others know everything about art, but don't know what they like.

There are actually as many different definitions of art as there are people on this planet.

Thanks, that's what I need. I'm very much still learning B&W pp, more so than colour. I may well have boosted the contrast too much and I did sharpen more heavily than normal, mainly to accentuate the frost. Luckily it's from a raw file.

You certainly don't need to be an expert to have a valid and valued opinion. You've picked up the same issues as usayit. Thanks.

Thanks Bob, it certinly was cool, minus 5 in fact, which is unusually cold for my part of the world. I think we can always find beauty if we bother to look for it.

You know, this subscribes to one of my mantras in that anything can look good under the right conditions. Your image of a garbage bag is one of the best I've ever seen
