Are there any comparison photos of the E-M5 with a gripped DSLR?

I was thinking about getting one to carry in situations where it would be impractical to carry my gripped 5D Mark III, but I wasn't sure exactly how small it was in comparison. Also, is the 17mm pancake pretty much the smallest M43 lens? Thanks for any help.

    Camera Size Comparison

Not gripped. But should give you a good idea. I'll tell you now, it's huge.

The 17mm and Panny 20mm are the smallest pancakes. But even the 12,14, 25 and 45 are small compared to their 35mm cousins.

Trolling, really? Forgive me for not wanting to haul around a full-frame DSLR all the time.

You're forgiven, although hauling a 5DIII is a sign of dedication and helps build stamina! But maybe you're growing old like me.

More of a convenience thing than a weight thing. Sometimes I just need something to put in my jacket pocket and go.

Just curious, what was it that tripped your "troll' alarm? I didn't see anything argumentative or derogatory?

For me the difference is huge. What I notice the most is depth, or how far it sticks out from your body, and weight.

Then you put a monster lens on it like a 24-105 or a 24-70 or even a 70-200 f/2.8 compared to a little pancake and it's downright insane.

I picked up my 60D the other day and put it right back in the bag. I may never go back to DSLR's again.

BTW OP, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the link, fdifulco. For the OP, here's a pic from my review that may help.

    ohhh

    first post

claims to have a 5d mark 3 - implying a recent expensive purchase

obvious inability to google video reviews of OMD that show size of camera

maybe I am overly cynical... its part of my scottish nature...

OK - I can see that. I took him to be requesting side by side photos that aren't easily found yet online. At the very least there have been some interesting photos in this thread in response. Folks here can be very obliging.

If you want to do pocket sized, I'd look at an E-P3 or smaller.

Thank's for the comparison picture and I wish I have the opportunity to take the same 'showdown' like this. Anyway you can call me the 'troll' but every time I see your picture I can not help my self from repeating this statement....

On left the camera for those who think about the joy of shooting...
On right the camera for those who think about the joy of client....

FYI if you still insist to call me 'troll' I do from time to time have to use 7D and D300...
