Has anyone had a chance to try out the VF3 or has anyone bought one? I'm wondering how it compares to the VF2. I can't bring myself to spend $250 on the VF2 but $180 is a little more palatable.

I guess Starred was implying that the VF2 isn't as good as the $250 that had to be surrendered.

I haven't gotten the money to buy either viewfinders yet. And my eyes are definately on the VF2 even though the VF3 now exists.

To throw in a guess, the VF3 is just a simplified VF2.

Also, be advised, according to the Olympus website it states "The PEN E-P2, E-PL1, E-PL2 and XZ-1 will require a firmware update to properly operate the VF-3. This will be available soon".

They already released the firmware update.

Quite tempted to see what the VF3 is like, although in saying that in the UK there wouldn't be much harm in trying the VF2, sells used for about £20 less than its new price!

I am interested in a user 'side-by-side' comparison

Obviously a difference in resolution but IMHO the user experience tells a lot more than the specs. I need an external viewfinder but am holding out until we have a user comparison .

Unrelated - I just got my E-P3 and love it! The only downside is not having the viewfinder... THANKS
