I read somewhere that nikon is making a m4/3 camera that is supposedly being announced soon. Anyone else hear anything about it?

there have been rumors about Nikon making a mirrorless camera for a couple years, but as far as I know....still nothing concrete. Also, it wouldn't be m4/3.....that was a standard designed and agreed to by Oly and Panasonic (and a few other others), but not Nikon.

Interesting. Looks like, in one of the sketches, there may be a viewfinder. Wonder where they are going to take this, full sensor maybe?

Note that rumor was posted back in March and says "in a couple weeks" ... It's been more than a couple weeks and no whiff of an announcement

Yeah, the rumors are all over the place, in terms of patents and speculations. But filed patents do not always become commercial products. It could be the Aps-c sensor or it could be something smaller. It could be like a nex, or a pen, or something else entirely. It could be called Coolpix Pro. It could use a standard nikon mount so older and current lenses would work, or it could have a new smaller mount with new smaller lenses to fit in the small interchangeable lens niche of the competitors. We shall just have to wait and see.

Apparently the Japanese disasters have delayed the planned announcement of whatever the new mirrorless system may be.

There's no real reason for Nikon to join M43; they don't need the alliance. If and when they release their mirrorless, they'll sell more in their first year than Olympus and Panasonic combined. Thank Aston Kutcher for that...
