Any way to find out if this would fit a GH2?

Not that particular model, but my Hoodman LCD loupe fits my GH1 and GH2 just fine.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy a small camera then almost double the size of it with such a huge monstrosity.

I do product photography in the studio. For critical focusing on the LCD I use an old Agfa 8X plastic loupe that cost me less than $10. I have 4X and 10X versions too. If I was working outdoors I would cover the transparent skirt of the loupe with duct tape to keep out the ambient light.

This is an inexpensive alternative that doesn't make a small camera very large.

What's wrong with magnifing the image using the rear dial and MF assist...?

This gives 5-10 times magnification anyway, manual page 85.

Because when one is outside, in screaming noonday light, magnifying the image isn't the issue.
