My issue is that the screen is very bright and attracts attention when carried by a shoulder strap. It's amazing how much attention it got as I was walking along with it on, but by my hip with the shoulder strap. Not very conductive to keeping a low profile while street shooting.

I haven't seen any way to turn off the LCD. Has anybody else have this problem, and how do you manage it?

no, this doesn't work if the lens cap is off and camera is on.

Press that button on the right side of the EVF. If you keep that pressed for a few seconds you can change the EVF auto switch to on or off.

Is the control button to the side of the EVF not working? I always leave my LCD off, except when I specifically want it on, usually for menus or image review.

When you are using only EVF and you still get the super control panel on the back screen, then you can scroll the screens to go totally black using the info button. On that mode the back screen will stay black even if you take your eye off from the EVF. Press OK button to bring the SCP on when needed.
