I'm headed out for a conference tomorrow in Fort Worth, TX which is near Dallas. I have an extra half day on Saturday to get around town. Can anyone recommend any photo spots in that area? I'm thinking of bringing the 75/1.8 for street shooting, 12/2 in case I see any landscapes, and maybe the 60/2.8 in case I see a bug outside the hotel or to use for any local gardens.

Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks!

When I was on my tour we went to the indoor Rodeo in Fort Worth and it was an entertaining night.

I'm pretty sure it's every saturday night.

I used the 45mm to grab this shot

Wow, sounds like a grand idea if I had a telezoom. :( I really wish Olympus would come with a 50-200/2.8-3.5 or 4 already. Thanks still.

Great shot! May I ask, we're you really able to get that close with the 45 or was this cropped? If this is either with the 45 or with minimal cropping then I'm sold on this and I'll be bringing my 75/1.8.

Make sure you're attending your conference and not just taking pics. Hahaha. Your wife and my family say hi.

My conference is Friday afternoon plus Saturday morning which leaves me Saturday afternoon and night for taking pics. My goal is to have at least 1 really nice photo to make the trip worthwhile.

I also wish to say hi to my wife and your family (plus Charlie).

But my conference doesn't finish until 1pm. :frown: That's ok. Something for next time I guess. But thanks, dude!

Cropped out a girls hat in the LH corner, about 5/8th of an inch. The 75 will work a dream, it's indoor so the lighting is excellent.

Near the rodeo shed is a ton of little shops and an excellent restaurant that serve scrumptious ribs.

I'm in Dallas right now for a meeting. I spent some hours yesterday at the Dallas Arboretum where there is an exhibit called Chihuly at the Dallas Arboretum. There were amazing glass sculptures scattered throughout the grounds. The colors and shapes were amazing.

    Highly recommend!

I recommend the Fair Grounds, especially in the afternoons and evenings - - the art deco architecture really lends itself well to shooting at that time of day.

Thanks, everyone! Am just waiting for the conference to start. I may just skip out on the dinner reception tonight so I can shoot some photos. :p

Thanks to ~tc~ for this awesome suggestion. (Funny though, I kept waiting for the buildings to all light up yellow but they never did; otherwise, I would've shot with still a bit of dusk blue sky)
