    I'd love to see bokeh comparisons between the 45 1.8 and the PL 25 1.4. Does the 45 yield smoother backgrounds because of focal length or does the 25 win with a faster aperture?

    Thanks for any contributions!

    from dofmaster:

    GF1 + Leica 25/1.4 @f/1.4 subject @3mt ----> dof 0.61mt
    GF1 + Oly 45/1.8 @f/1.8 subject @3mt ------> dof 0.23mt

    I think the Oly wins

    Unless you move closer with the 25mm lens to get the same framing.

    GF1 + 25mm lens at f/1.4 subject at 5.55 ft -> dof 0.63ft
    GF1 + 45mm lens at f/1.8 subject at 10 ft -> dof 0.79ft

    And totally distort the perspective by doing so.

    Sure, they are very different lenses. However, if the question is which would blur the background more, the answer depends on whether you want matched perspective or matched framing.

    I have both lenses; perhaps if I get time this weekend I will post some samples for you. I will try to keep the framing the same, but I am more than allowed to set the 25mm to f/1.4 :wink:
