Panasonic released some info a while back, and then it seemed to really die down. Any ideas on release date, price, early reviews, etc? I'm anxious!

Saw a video on YouTube today where a Panasonic rep said that pricing should be announced around March 14th or 17th (I forget which), and availability around April/May.

They had samples on their stand at the photography show in the UK this week along with lots of marketing info but would not (or could not say) when.

Thanks, I took a look at those videos and I'm pretty excited about it! The rep said the camera will be under $2k and they do not have final price for the video attachment. I'm hoping/guessing the body will be around $1500. That's a little higher than the Gh3 and not excessively high compared to the EM1. Also, I doubt they would announce pricing under $2k unofficially if actual price would be very close to $2k (like $1999). They may seek a higher profit margin on the video attachment. And he said availability would likely be on or before mid April.

The demos of DFD haven't been good yet. Perhaps that's something they're still refining. And everyone who has handled it has noted the huge improvement in quality and sharpness of the EVF.

I messed with GH4 at wppi in Vegas. same as the gh3. It did pop up with some error which i had to turn the cam off and on to clear it. Focusing seemed good with 42.5 1.2.

They've changed the page now to remove it, but the Amazon pre-pre-order page (link below) said something similar originally. I'm going from memory but I think it was March 17th that it will be available for pre-order.

Could not agree more. The focus looks skewed in favor of the GH4. Strange to make such a newb mistake.

I know.. makes them look quite amateurish. Surely, they would have caught this mistake before posting the images

Realistically, is there any chance here of a ~$1300 release point (the same price as the GH3 at launch)?

I like pleasant surprises as much as the next guy, but I seriously doubt it. I suspect $1399 or $1499 for the GH4 at launch.

Obviously I have no idea, but here's my line of thinking: $1300-1500 does not make it an excessively expensive as a stills camera. If it's closer to $2000, then it's competing with entry level full frame bodies. It's not going to be a notably better stills camera than the GH3 or the EM1, but it does have improvements that warrant a price maybe slightly higher than the EM1. The problem with that pricing ($1300-1500 range) is that they would be selling it for too little in the 4k video market. Because of that, I'm hoping/thinking that they will compensate for that with a high price for the video attachment. I think even if they charge $500 for that extra piece, it will still be a great value as a 4k camera. So, it may be wishful thinking, but i'm really hoping for $1300-$1500 for the body.

You think it's worth less than the E-M1? (Why??) Didn't that release at $1500? Even the E-P5 with VF-4 was $1500 or over when released.....

E-M1 was $1400 from the jump (and I personally think it's overpriced).

That said, I didn't say I thought it was worth less than the E-M1 - I asked if anyone thought it was reasonable that it might come out for around $1300. I've seen that rumored, but I've also seen it rumored at $1599, and $1699, and $1999, etc. Was just asking :)

And yet people are on another site are trying to pass off the 128000 comparison wow, look at how great it is. Eye roll. Sure the video will be class leading but for still4... doubtful.
