Hey guys wondering if any of you have any additional info on the rumored E-M1 and E-M1X v3.0 firmware update this June 2021.

Definitely hoping for some video enhancements….

Wanted:

- 10-bit
- 4k/60
- C-AF focusing in 120/1080
- Sharpening controls in Om-Log 400
- Om-Log instead of Om-Log 400
- Improved AF
- Improved wobbles when shooting wide… like the 12mm f2.0 lens

The last bullet point, I actually detailed in my E-M1x centric YouTube Channel here:

Has anyone noticed that EM1x is on the getolympus site, but there is no longer a price and no ‘buy now’ option.
No change to the other bodies.
Wonder if something is up, or if it just some webpage error?

So I been looking everyday for any news on the firmware update. And nothing.
Looks like it’s not happening or something.

Well, there was an update mid-July mostly for video time codes though. http://dl01.olympus-imaging.com/ww/ud2/ENU/0001/1340/index22a.html

Sort of disappointed they seem to have abandoned it over the E-M1 Mark III though which seems to be better at face recognition and lock-ons. Plus, the E-M1 III also has the "Starry Sky" feature for dark focusing absent in the E-M1X.

More of the face recognition comparison popped up on DPR here: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65352412

Guess their flagship has sailed.... :(

The EM1 II and EM5 III got firmware updates adding focus stacking for the 8-25 f4 Pro. However, OMDS did not state that this was added for the July 19th EM1X and EM1 III firmware updates. Wot???

I'm hoping a v3.0 update for the X is still coming that has a lot more to it.

Do we know that the E-M1mk3 actually needs a firmware update to stack on the 8-25? Anyone try it without the firmware update and with it?

Because they would have got it early but hidden, being test camera bodies for the 8-25 lens. The same happened on the E-M1 when the 300 f4 lens came.

@SrMiPhoto says that with the firmware update, the EM1 III can focus-stack on the 8-25. I don't have the lens, so I can't attest to that. I emailed Getolympus support, but they haven't responded yet.

It looks like they also fixed the battery percentage bug in the E-M1mk3.

Previously, if you turned the camera on, the percent sign would be missing when the camera was switched on. It would then quietly appear after you used the camera. Heh. Funny little bug, that is.

well here we are isn September and still no update. Discouraging. That rumor went everywhere, and apparently nothing.

Bummer.

I keep looking every week still.

Guess you have to be satisfied with what you got in July.

Ver.2.2
(Jul. 19 2021)
  • Corrected the following problems that occurred when connecting to an external recorder with Monitor or Record output mode:
    • * The external recorder does not start recording when pressing the camera's record button if REC Bit is On.
    • * Time code is not transmitted to the external recorder if Time Code is On.

Drewski bro we're still waiting on the FW 3.0 but more importantly, when's your next YT video being released?
