We managed to guess the price of the 12-100 fairly accurately, so let's try our luck with the E-M1 mk II! (Body only) :)

I sent the info to one of our friends in South Africa who runs photo safaris. He is a Canon dude, tried and true. He is so very disappointed at Canon 5DiV for the cost. He could not believe what Olympus was going to deliver in E-M1 II for a guesstimated cost of ~$1,500. So we think $1500 is high.....just remember what the 35mm shooters are paying for top of the line bodies and glass. :eek-31:

With a stacked sensor, I would have guessed 1599. But an improved "traditional" 20MP sensor should not exceed 1399, me think...

If it's 1299, I'm a buyer on release(if the AF is all that). If it is higher than that, then I'm a buyer either used/refurbished or in a year when the price is closer to the $1000 mark (if the AF is all that). :D

    I guessed $1599, though.

It would not surprise me if it is closer to $2000.

Hm, yeah — now I'm wondering if I should have included some higher-price options in the poll...

No! Darn it! It shall be less than $1599! ;)

My vote doesn't constitute a recommendation or my acceptable limit. Just in case Oly is watching.

I don't think it can reach $1600. That's much more than the A6300, equal to the X-T2, close to 7dmk2 and $2000 exceeds market price of D500. Even if it is a new benchmark, it's not in this market. I understand Oly's strategy is low-volume high-margin but I think those numbers are beyond its ability to draw sales away from better known platforms.

    Update!

It seems that the poll code lets me move the goal posts after the game has started - unexpected, but true.

In view of some of the comments made, I've added some higher price options, and made it possible to change your vote if you want to. That's the theory, anyway. :)

If E-M1 II cost $1499 then GH5 will be around $1800. Isn't it little bit expensive for MFT camera?
Those aren't professional cameras, so most of the photographers wont run to preorder. People will wait a little bit so price go down .
Personally I wont spend more than $1150 for it.

Hmmm not professional cameras?.. weatherproof, 18-60 fps, very high quality lenses, 4K video, and if you watched the launch video, pro level support

what to you is a 'professional' camera? A top end Nikon or Canon that costs 3 times as much?

there is no such thing as a professional camera.... just professional photographers, and a lot of them will be looking at the e-m1 mk2 as an alternative way of getting their bills paid

Notice from you sig that you like to collect lenses... hows your professional photography going?

You are right ,I collect a lot of things an I'm using them a lot too.
I never said that the body is not great. Or it won't do the things good enough.Just it is not a body for the part of photography world where top money are made:Modelling,sport,concerts,fashion,.... Those guys might run and preorder a lot.
After back injury I moved from FF Nikon to MFT and I'll stay here not only because of weight and size.
BUT because I'm not making money with photography I'll wait till price come to my price level of comfort.

I picked the most expensive price as it is my guess that it will be more expensive than the Pen F in Australia.
In some places the Pen F body only is still selling for $1,699.95

Come and live in Australia, here it is likely to be 1799 -> 1999 for the body and you can bet your bottom dollar that the initial allocation from pre-orders will be sold out within 24 hours of going on sale and we will end up with a 40-150Pro fiasco of no stock for months.... of course happy to be proved wrong.

I'm already trying to sweet talk a dealer to be towards to top of any list for definitely one and if the price is ok two bodies.

btw, certainly not a Pro :) and real pro's no doubt will get cameras regardless of stock levels so why would they have to pre-order anything?
