Announcement: New 'Members Only' Forum Section

Ten out of ten

What a good idea, it will encourage people to join the forum if they wish to take advantage of the help they can get in using their camera.
If more forums did this it would encourage the right kind of members who have a genuine interest in the products and at the same time discourage those lurking who just want to start an abusive thread.
Well done and thanks and I for one will use and learn from it.

it's very exciting to be able to start with a blank canvas... we have a great deal of collective experience about what makes a forum, and a large community work. Let's see what we can do to make this the home of m4/3rds.

I have been an avid viewer of your work and particularly I am interested in your Brighton images. I was there many years ago (before digital) and I am returning this year. I hope to take two day trips from London where I stay, one day for Brighton and t'other for the beach/pier area.

 

I have a suggestion that may already be in place. When a member responds to a link that he be automatially advised by email that his response has been responded to or that it has continued to be an active discussion. This is on some other sites and I find it is helpful. Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.

When you post on a thread, if you go "Advanced", you can subscribe to the thread by any means you want.

And, in case some here don't know it - if you go into your User CP as in "control panel" you and add and change all sorts of stuff, including whether or not to get notifications, cancel the darn things and more.

P.S. You can use the Quick Links drop down menu to get there...or go in through the Home Page...and, just use the link all the way on the top left in the forums, too. So many choices!

Housekeeping forum

In searching around this morning, I only just realized that we have a newish forum section within the Members Only area called "Housekeeping" https://www.mu-43.com/forumdisplay.php?f=77 and a very handy place it is, too.

For anyone who is getting used to the new gallery system - check out the Housekeeping forum for some very well written and helpful "stickies" among other things.

Thank you to Amin and any others who have been working behind the scenes to make :43: an even better place to be.

He is now the official forum janitor.

Any trash or confused items, send Amin a note and he'll sweep it away.

Uh oh, maybe you'd better clarify that he really doesn't want notes but rather - posts on the appropriate threads in the janitorial dept...I mean Housekeeping forum?

but if a non member hits "Active" will he see any of the "active" threads in the members only forum? or have you restricted some of the tabs
