I got to go to the zoo today to really test out my FD 50-300 f/4.5L, and it's a fantastic zoo lens on m4/3. The whole zoom range was utilized today, and it was really nice. I actually shot handheld the whole day, since I had my daughter's stroller to stash the cam and lens in between exhibits. Anyway, the lens continues to impress. It's actually pretty easy to handhold at 600mm effective, even at slower shutter speeds (I was getting a fair number of sharp shots as low as 1/250s at 300mm.)

Pics! I have no idea what focal length these are mostly at, but I think almost all of these are wide open (I only stopped down to f/5.6 for 5 or 6 shots).

    Racquet-Tailed Roller:

Two alligators (funky bokeh here is from shooting through a tightly meshed fence):

Baby Gorilla telling me to put my stinkin' camera away. ;)

Closer shot of the Racquet-tailed roller (bummed about the stick at the top...I didn't see it until I downloaded the pics).

And my favorite (and saddest of the day): a Gorilla behind bars:
