After a work appointment on Wednesday in the new "Comune" I decided to take the afternoon off and explore some familiar and unknown corners of Bologna.

The Archiginnasio, an anatomical theatre is one other most fascinating things to see here. Bologna is one of Europe’s oldest universities.

The Romanic church Santo Stefano is one of my favourite monuments in this city. The Sprawling San Domenico was a new discovery. The choir stalls are quite something.

Bologna is still off the mass tourism trail, that makes visiting many places in Italy unpleasant. A great city for a pleasant day’s exploring.

All taken with my EM5 and 12-35 and 7-24 that I slipped into my briefcase.

Comune, local Government offices. Note the window cleaners.

Those interiors are very nice, and of course the last one with the cat. That's how I feel today with the heat in Sydney.

Edit; were the interiors hand held ?

Thanks, Its cold here and the cat was lapping up some sun.

Yes, they were all hand held at about 1/15 if I remember. IBIS is a miracle.

Beautiful shots NCV. How you managed to find the Anatomy Theatre and Santo Stefano empty is a quite puzzle () but you used the opportunity really well. Congratulations. Peter

Thanks, I was surprised the Anatomy Theatre was empty, I had the place to myself for a quarter of an hour.

At Santo Stefano, I just had to wait to catch an the empty moments. But even here, there were just a few other visitors.

January is a good time to visit Italy, even Florence is quite empty.

Yes, I know Bologna quite well, I love visiting Bologna. I have still got some things I want to see, like the Cimabue in Santa Maria.

I live in Reggio Emilia, not too far away.
