So, I'm ordering an OM-D, and probably the 12-35 Panasonic lens. I already have the Olympus 45 and the Panasonic 20. I really don't see much use for the kit lens if I'm getting the 12-35. However, the kit lens seems like a pretty good deal for the extra $300, not sure what they're going for on the secondary market but I doubt it's much less than that.

Bottom line, if you were in my shoes, what would you do?

If you want to take advantage of the weather sealed capability the kit lens is a good place to start.

I believe that the 12-35 is also weather sealed, so that's not a huge factor.

I use mostly my primes, so I don't use the kit 12-50 a lot. I'm glad I have it, though, and the macro capabilities are are rather good if you think you'd use that function. I use it mostly for that and the wide angle, because I don't have the 12mm prime, but your panasonic 12-35 covers that better. My two cents.

I've been watching the price of used lenses on this forum and on FM: the price of the 12-50 has come down to about $300-350 it seems. So taking into account PayPal & shipping fees and the hassle, not sure I would bother.

I also want to get the 12-35. I wonder if the price will dip down a bit at some point...

Hi all. My 1st post here.
I was in the same boat as you before, and I decided to get the body only while I saved up for the 12-35. Before I bought the 12-35, I used Oly 45 and Pan 14. Once I got hold of the 12-35, sold the pancake and use the Oly 45 if I need more reach. Never been happy and never regretted the decision not to get the 12-50.

I would pass on the 12-50 if you're getting the 12-35.

    Thanks! I think that's a good call.
