    Hi all,

I thought I'd share some photos of my 30th birthday from last January. Above&Beyond has been one of my favorite EDM artists for ten years now and today they are one of the most successful DJ/electronic dance music group in the world. Two thirds of the group are British and one is from Finland, Paavo Siljamäki, hence they come to Finland at least once a year. Still, I haven't had a chance to go see them live. My wife isn't so much to electronic dance music, but she urged me to go with my brother and friends to the album release concert which was right after my birthday. So I arranged a suite from my favorite hotel in Helsinki, Original Sokos Vaakuna which was built for the 1952 Helsinki summer olympics. Before the concert we went to Italian style restaurant Sogno. The food was great and so was the company. Then we went to the streets of Helsinki. There are so many interesting old buildings and details that one could spend a whole week just to wander around and take street/architecture shots. Later it was time to go to the gig. It was just pure bliss from the first beat to the very last. Everybody was jumping and singing along like crazy. And since the concert was sold out the experience among the crowd was quite intense, in a good way.

The gear I used was E-P1 with 17mm 1.8 and E-PM1 with Samyang 7.5mm fisheye. It's always a luxury to shoot documentary with two bodies so you don't have to fiddle about swapping lenses. The last five shots of the next post I took with my phone, Sony Xperia Z2. I was quite surprised how well the Sony managed to expose the photos at the concert.

Thanks! Yeah, some are the "original Soviet style" but there are unfortunately also newer trams.

Nice set! I also listen to A&B and have seen them live a couple of years ago. Loved it.

Thanks for the glimpses of Helsinki, @Vivalo@Vivalo ! My father's side of the family came to America from Finland early in the 20th century, but I have never been there.

Cool pictures. I've always had this draw towards Finland. I need to make it happen one of these years.

Thanks for showing us parts of Helsinki.

    Really nice set.

I'm a big fan of Above And Beyond as well, especially their AjunaBeats series. I listen to their "Group Therapy" on di.fm every week. Can't say I've seen them live. EDM over here in the states seems to be waning, especially anything outside of Dubstep.
