Hello! I'm thinking of equipping myself soon with some adapted lens. I am currently looking at some old Helios lenses, however I am having a few things that I am not sure about.
I've read that some older lenses require a 'flanged' adapter. How can I be sure that the lens that I am buying require this? Also will a flanged adapter work well with a lens that does not require it and vice-versa ?
I'm also looking at the more expensive alternative of buying an used OLYMPUS OM lens (the 50mm 1.8f looks good). Does the olympus system use flanged and non-flanged adapters as well ?

I understand that this may be stupid questions, but I hope that I can find some answers.

    Thank you in advance!

OM adapters are simply a spacer to put the lens at the proper registration distance from the sensor. There is no electrical connection with the lens. Most other old SLR lenses are about the same.

The tricky ones are DSLR lenses without an aperture ring. There are adapters to fix this.
