I Wonder if using the new constant aperture zoom 12-40mm from olympus will get me IBIS with gx7 at all focals? I know that using fix primes from olympus is no problem, but what about zoom from the other brand? Is there compatible focals lenght communication between a olympus zoom lens and the Panasonic gx7 body? Sorry if this question is kind of noob but I just got into mu43 with the gx7 purchase recently...

You will have IS with any m4/3 lens at all focal lengths

You should have no problems with IBIS and an Olympus zoom on a Panasonic body. The lens reports its focal length to the body and the body adjusts IBIS accordingly.

You can see this in the EXIF data--the actual focal length you zoomed to is recorded for each shot, regardless of whether you're using an Olympus or Panasonic lens.
