This was my first time visiting Oregon. Weather was perfect every day. We drove a bit loop along the Columbia river valley stopping to hike a few waterfalls on the way to Hood River, up to Mt. Hood, down to Crater lake via Bend, and then across the cascades along the Umpqua river to the central coast and on up rt 101 to Astoria and back to Seattle. All in all, just under 1300 miles of driving. What a beautiful state and very diverse in scenery/climate. I know we only scratched the surface too. I am already looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, due to a last minute detour to Mt. Ranier and poor planning, I missed getting some sunset photos on the Columbia river. We spent a night at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson WA, and the scenic part of that long drive was in the dark...but we retraced our steps on the other side of the river next day.

Glad you enjoyed your trip! And glad you had nice weather! Quite a change from Bend to Crater Lake to the coast.

I still live here and every day I love the visual treats. If you are a photographer Oregon offers the coast, the gorge, mountains, and deserts - a lifetime of photo ops. Great series BTW.
