A very poor panorama!

I have done this a few times, especially if you are aiming down a the subject instead of the horizon. My solution was to start taking the images in portrait orientation. It takes more photos to cover the same space, but give more overhead for later cropping or adjustment. (I don't use the in-camera pano mode)
