I hoped to make a sunset visit to the Peter Iredale one of the stops on our recent Pacific Northwest road trip. I had spent a great deal of time researching the possibilities between Santa Cruz and Port Townsend and it was one of very few possible destinations about which I was relatively intransigent. Of course the weather could have made the experience an exercise in quickly improvising a plan b, or c, or... But, no, we had glorious weather (except for the total lack of clouds), we managed to hit the tide right and, since it was out of season, even the small crowd there was manageable. Even the moon cooperated.

Beautiful lighting and angles you got on the rusted hulk
Much appreciated, thank you. It wasn't quite as easy as (rust + golden light) - exposure = yummy...

Playing the angles was the hard part ;)

Instead of being the subject, the wreckage can also serve as a compositional device.
