The three rivers that join at the Tamar River Basin - the Nth Esk, Sth Esk and Tamar River - were the primary reason Launceston was established as Australia's third oldest settlement in 1806. It's a sad state of affairs today... GH2 and SMC M50/f1.4 {}
The photo mood seems to convey the dismal state of the rivers. The stretches of the Tamar we saw in 2009 were much prettier.
From Freshwater Point down the Tamar is in much better condition that it ever has been - it's just the upper-reaches that are a bit sad... *insert Launceston City Council rant*
