What are the differences between both cameras for video?

If you want it mainly for video then I think you would be better off with the G7 and saving the extra cost
I don't think there is much difference between the two in video capabilities
The GX8 has the additional in body and a Dual IS for stills but you will pay the extra for those features (the actual dual IS does not work with video)
The G7 is very good ergonmically with dual dials and a great grip
The GX8 is also very good ergonomically butt quite so well sorted with regard to controls imo
One advantage for me with regard to the GX8 is that it has a 2.5mm microphone jack ( seen as a disadvantage by most) as this means it will accept the older Panasonic DMW- MS1 stereo boom microphone which uses a 2.5mm plug and which is far cheaper than the later MS2 (with 3.5 mm plug)

I have a GX8. But my question is because I see people praising the capabilities of the G7 in video, are those of the same sore GX8 paper, even higher if it is true that the G7 not allowed to use HDMI output when records.

I'd go for the "ugly" one, the ergonomics are hard to beat.
