By that I mean I only shot a "normal" view lens: the Panasonic-Leica 25mm f/1.4. The goal was to shoot as wide open as possible and I had an overcast which helped that a lot. Sometimes I was able to shoot at f/1.4.

Longwood Gardens is a world-renowned botanical garden in Kennett Square, PA where I live.

I had an idea for the next one: the flowers have organized and a daffodil has been selected to represent them to management...

And this is why: they work long hours looking good for tourists. It's not easy...

Very nice John. I need to get back up there some day soon. It's been a long time since I was there.

I echo what slothead said. My brother lives minutes from Longwood but it's been years since I visited there. Beautiful pictures!

Now I appreciate your positve responses to my photography... but are you not completely ignoring the tragedy of what these flowers are facing with their labor action?

Look at this! When the flowers tried to protest the management dug in (and dug out) and petals flowed like water in the grassy lanes...

The protesters were hauled off en-masse to detention in "Toro" police wagons! The "Bulls" have them now! :frown:

Celebrity flowers rallied in support like these orchids...

But those who did protest were met with water hoses and hosed down. :shakehead:

Love the photos and the story line. It does seem a sad to throw away such beautiful flowers.

    Thanks!

Was chatting with one of the men working the area and he was saying that the entire thrust of the gardens is to present a consistent appearance throughout a "season". That means having a running timed development of plants and periodically replacing one group with another -- even to replacing them with the same kind of plants.

They are really amazing in their efficiency. This is the first time I've "caught" them in full swing and it was in a less visited section of the gardens, not the "main" part which they probably would not work on during normal public hours.

It is an operation which has honed it's approach over many decades and they really do make things happen quickly when they get out there. I was lucky to get there when I did, lol. Made for some fun on my part.

You definitely need a Buddhist/ Hindu point of view. Destruction makes way for creation!

I agree!... unless, uhhh... It's ME that's being destroyed!

Also you've missed the point of my user name, and likely never visited my websites area about me. I state, "Everything passes... everything remains."

I'm a "Brothers Johnson" fan from back-in-the-day, but maybe there are other versions? Not sure what "era" you are coming from, lol.
