Received my GH2 on Friday, and so far I really like it :2thumbs:. I like the textured finish. Build is solid like the GH1. AF is as quick as others have said.

Looking through a few of my high ISO samples from the weekend, the performance has exceeded my expections. Here are a few resized samples. All were at 45mm f/2.8 and 1/80-100s in mixed lighting, processed in Lightroom 3 with default noise reduction (no luminance NR) and sharpening.

ISO 1600 image of my dad on his 71st birthday:

The next two are at ISO 3200.

Nice shots that show the capabilities of both the GH2 and the Elmarit.

    Happy birthday Dad!

The high ISO performance of recent cameras is impressive. Clearly the GH2 is in the game.

Nice Amin. The skin tones on that first one of your dad is so absolutely perfect it's hard to imagine wanting it any other way. I'm looking forward to wringing mine out once I get it hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks, d. As sensor technology has improved over time, I find myself less concerned with how much noise there is and more concerned with how color holds up at high ISO. I'm very pleased with the GH2 in this respect.

Based on early impressions, the GH2 is all that I wanted and then some.

Any chance you could post some unprocessed 100% crops?

There's no standard way to do that since all JPEGs have been processed in one way or another. I'll post a couple 100% crops from Lightroom 3.3 with no sharpening or luminance NR (only the default color NR applied), no color or contrast adjustments made, and link the RAW files for download so you can look at them yourself.

Both of the images below were ISO 3200, 1/80s, f/2.8. Please keep in mind that the lens I used is not at it's sharpest at f/2.8 and that these were handheld, so technically they are not the ideal crops to use for looking at signal relative to noise at high ISO.
