The challenge will close at 8:00 am (BST) Tuesday 6th July.

----------
Post-Processing Challenge Rules
  1. The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  2. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  3. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  4. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  5. The Winner of the challenge is honored as the Master of the next Challenge.
Notes:
  • Images provided by Challenge Masters must be their own. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • Compositing is allowed, provided the use of the donor image does not violate any licensing or copyright restrictions.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

Decided to focus on the textures of the fascinating foreground for first entry.

(both done entirely in Affinity Photo)

For second entry, decided to have a bit of fun with it.
(if you can't make out the details and want to see them)

Lovely scene. The town and headland cry out for a pano. All accomplished in Adobe Camera Raw, display copy sharpened first in Topaz Denoise AI and second the town and headland in Topaz Sharpen AI.

There is also a lovely layered composition (I think of them as dessert parfaits) lurking in the image, as well. All accomplished in Adobe Camera Raw, display copy sharpened in Topaz Denoise AI.

I like the different green colours in the foreground and background, so I kept the format at original.
Used 2 graduated filter on the top of the image one for lowering the exposure about 0.5 steps and then another for the clouds.

And of course a B&W from the above.
Used the Agfa APX 25 Filmpack preset and a Red filter.
I like the structure in the forground so I didn't go 16:9 as I first thought I would.

It might also be that I like to keep that stone in the lower right corner in the picture, it gives a nice anchor point to the picture.

Two completely different takes:

First is a square crop using the foreground, processed to B&W in LR with a ND grad added to the sky and global tweaks and border added in LR:

Second look is a panoramic crop in color, excising most of the foreground from the original framing, sky replaced using Luminar AI and with additional global tweaks in LR:

I decided I wanted to include the entire image, but in a wider aspect ratio. So I processed the raw image in DxO and then proceeded to do terrible things to it in Gimp. If I was successful, you shouldn't be able to tell I did very much.
