Just lost my cap for my 7-14mm. Anyone know where I can get one? I'm in the UK but don't mind having it shipped in. Also do any generic ones fit as I can see myself losing another one...

I'm sorry, I cannot help you with the lens cap. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed looking at your images on Flickr, particularly your understanding of light and the use of the ultra wide angle lens.

    Thank you!

Good luck with the lens cap. If it costs anywhere near the price of the one for my Sigma 12-24mm, I think I would try to make one from plastic pipe and a stop end.

Not cheap but it's available from here Might be worth asking a local Panasonic dealer to save the shipping?

Yikes! 2-4 weeks (from the dealer, yes?) At least Partsmaster is quoting 5 days.

No that is Partsmaster. I saw the 5 days thing and thought "hhhmmmmm, I bet you dont stock em."....
I phoned em and they said "yes it will be despatched within 5 days from when we get it which will be 2 -4 weeks".
Lucky I didnt just hit the add to basket button...
Just phoned a Panny dealer in Pinner and he says he can get one in within a week. £29.00.
I've just email Ian Kerso who I bought the lens from to see if he can help.

$17 US for this piece of cheap plastic is highway robbery. Why do companies treat their customers so poorly? Well, I know, it's because they can.

This isn't just any piece of plastic, this is Panasonic's own "Made in China" plastic.

UK dwellers will probably understand

    Ordered two

After buying my P7-14 lens and reading a post about someone losing their lens cap I thought it a good idea to get a spare before I dropped my cap off a mountain cliff. I made some initial calls to Panasonic that were not very helpful and then dropped the ball.

This afternoon while ordering some other filters and lens caps from B&H I asked if they sold, or could sell, these lens hood caps. Rafael from B&H was extremely helpful searching every resource he could find internally and on the web. He could not find, order, or sell me the part, but he did find the same part number listed in this thread, VFC4412, on dpreview. He also gave me a current phone number for Panasonic.

I called Panasonic, got a guy in parts, gave him the number but he was unable (unwilling) to confirm I was ordering the correct lens/hood cap. He transferred me to the camera department, I gave him the lens model number, he could not even find the cap part number, so I gave it to him but he was unable to say what it went to... Back to parts where I spoke to a different guy, gave him the VFC4412 number and said "apparently you can't confirm I have the correct number?" However, this guy replied with the VFC4412 is “primarily used on” the xxxxxxx model 7-14 lens!

    I ordered two: Caps $17.42 each, 10.95 shipping, 3.54 tax = $49.33. I’m surprised they don’t cost more.

Now I may never lose one but I will carry a spare in my bag and be prepared.
